BLS for Healthcare Providers
This course is designed for healthcare providers such as physicians, nurses, paramedics and EMT’s who respond to cardiac and respiratory emergencies. The course curriculum includes one- and two-rescuer CPR, foreign body airway obstruction, use of barrier devices, bag masks for adults, children and infants, and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED’S). A written and skills test is taken at the end of the course. Renewal classes are also available monthly.
BLS for Healthcare Provider Renewal
This course is designed for healthcare professionals, such as physicians, nurses, paramedics and EMTs, who respond to cardiac and respiratory emergencies and who have a currently dated course completion card. Please bring your current card to class.
The course curriculum includes one and two rescuer CPR, foreign body airway obstruction, use of the automated external defibrillator (AED), barrier devices and bag valve masks for adults, children and infants. Students will be issued a course completion card upon successful written and skills testing.
Fee: $60 plus additional textbook fee
Heartsaver CPR AED Class
Participants in this course will learn adult and child one-rescuer CPR, obstructed airway management, barrier devices and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). Students will receive a course completion card upon successful skills testing.
Heartsaver First Aid Class
The goal of this course is to train lay people in first aid assessments and actions. Topics include medical
emergencies, injury emergencies and environmental emergencies. This video-based first aid course includes
peer and manikin practice and case discussions. This course was developed by the American Heart Association.

Pediatric First Aid CPR AED
This course is for childcare providers to respond to and manage illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes, until professional help arrives. It covers the four steps of first aid and first aid skills such as finding the problem, stopping bleeding, bandaging and using an Epinephrine pen. This course will also include child CPR AED and infant CPR. This is a two-part class. Participants must attend both classes.
CPR for Family and Friends
This CPR class is for family members, friends and members of the community who do not need a course completion credential. The course will focus on one-rescuer CPR for adults, children and infants and managing an airway obstruction (choking).
AHA e-Learning Option
This option allows students to take an online version of BLS for Healthcare Provider Renewal and Heartsaver CPR courses. You may log onto www.onlineaha.org to access the CPR course needed. Following successful course completion, print the course certificate. You must provide the Center for Healthier Living with a copy of your certificate, and your current CPR card when you attend the hands-on session.

The purpose of this course is to develop the skills of physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists & emergency medical services personnel who are regularly in emergency cardiac care delivery. Those who successfully complete the course according to American Heart Association standards will be issued an AHA ACLS Certification.
These classes are offered through St. Clare’s Hospital in cooperation with Hackettstown Regional Medical Center.
